John E. Roller, a general in the state militia, was a prominent Virginia attorney and businessman. He appears to have been a Republican. George B. Keezell and George N. Earman defeated Roller and T.A. Haas in the election of two members to represent Rockingham County in the Constitutional Convention of 1901-02. From the description of Papers, 1901. (Unknown). John S. Wise and Richard A. Wise were sons of Henry Alexander Wise. John S. Wise was born in Brazil in 1846. He attended Virginia Military Institute and fought with the cadets at the Battle of New Market. He graduated from the law department at the University of Virginia, was U. S. Attorney for the eastern district of Virginia, and served in Congress 1883-1885. He was a Readjuster and later, a Republican. He moved to New York City to practice law. John S. Wise died in 1913. ...
